The Project(s), directed and adapted for Zoom by Christian Helem-Novak, is a docu-drama about the Chicago housing projects that were torn down in 2000. The Robert Taylor Housing Projects were completed on Chicago’s southside in 1963, and black families are given hope. Community forms and Taylor is full of music, food, and a self-sustained economy. But as time progresses, things change and violence increases, and the women step up to protect their community. Suddenly black people have to question: is this our home or just a failing project? Experience the real history and stories taken from interviews with residents and historians. The Project(s) gives voice to the black residents of Chicago's early housing projects.
Real residents were interviewed and we’re telling their stories verbatim. This cast is special and I feel honored to be working with actors who’ve been on my vision board since college! It’s a privilege to be able to bring Theatre to the homes of many!
The show runs November 6-21st, with a special pre-recorded Thanksgiving Performance. Tickets are pay what you can, so feel free to get your tickets via this link: https://www.stagelefttheatre.com/copy-of-building-the-wall
